Our Staff

Ken FreemanKen Freeman - Director
Bcom CA

Ken is the founder and director of Ken S Freeman Chartered Accountants Ltd. He established the Chartered Accountancy practice in 1994, after a long and successfull corporate accounting career, stretching back to the mid seventies. He has spent his professional career concerning himself with Accounting, tax, human resources and asset protection issues.

He is married to Leith and father of Vanessa and Garth, with both Leith and Garth working in the Accounting Practice whilst Vanessa, Barrister and Solictor, operates her law practice trading as Freeman Legal. For leisure, Ken enjoys the odd round of golf, a good days fishing and each and every Southland rugby victory.




Rowena AbalosRowena Abalos - Practice Accountant

Rowena was born in the Philippines and holds a degree of Bachelor of Accountancy. A Certified Public Accountant with more than 18 years of professional accounting experience of which 10 years was as an Accounting Manager in a foreign-invested manufacturing company based in China. She's multilingual able to speak Filipino, English and basic Mandarin. She set up the payroll and accounting systems during her stint in China as well as supervised and trained 15 local Chinese staff. She plans to pursue studies in preparation for acquiring a qualification as a Chartered Accountant.




Helen Sta MariaHelen Ste Maria - Accountant

Helen has recently joined us as a full time accountant working on our firm's clients. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration majoring in Accountancy from Philippine School of Business Administration. She took up some requirements from Massey University as she is keen to become a fully qualified New Zealand Chartered Accountant.

Helen has worked as an accountant for over 5 years, as part of very large organisations in the Phillipines and over 3 years in a chartered accountancy role in a New Zealand Chartered Accountancy firm. Other than English and Filipino languages, she also speaks and understands Spanish to an extent. She loves art especially cross stitching.




Garth FreemanGarth Freeman - Business Development

Garth is a qualified and practiced mechanical engineer, with experience in product design. Since returning from life overseas, he has joined the firm in 2008 to develop his business and accounting skills and to promote business development. Since joining, he has assumed all normal accounting duties as well as taken control of MYOB client support issues.

In his spare time, Garth enjoys Cricket, Football, Mountain Biking and is an avid skier.




Sharon AdamsonSharon Adamson - Administrator

Sharon has undertaken administration work for a number of years in CA firms and has worked for Ken since 2004, enjoying the client contact. Sharon is responsible for company administration tasks, IRD liason and dealing with our clients regarding their GST returns.

She is married with two adult children and in her spare time enjoys gardening, animals, family activities and time at the beach.




Leith FreemanLeith Freeman - Administrator

Leith has worked in the Accounting Firm since 1996 and contributes to a range of administrative functions, including GST processing, Accounts Payable and Credit Control. Leith enjoys sailing, fishing and dog walking.
